The opportunity

The Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) is the peak body for resources sector professionals, with a membership base spread across the globe. They partnered with Guroo Learning to build an on-demand professional development hub, one that would support professionals transitioning into the mining industry and give members a reason to keep coming back throughout their careers.

The challenge was both a content and a logistics problem. AusIMM needed to deliver high-quality, multimedia-rich learning to professionals regardless of where they were located or what time zone they were in, while managing a growing portfolio of courses and cohorts efficiently.

The solution

Academy became the foundation for AusIMM's professional education strategy. Self-paced course delivery supported six comprehensive modules following the mining lifecycle, while the platform's multimedia capabilities allowed AusIMM to incorporate video case studies, career transition stories, and day-in-the-life profiles of mining roles. Blended learning tools, including live virtual classrooms, action-based learning, and robust assessment, sat alongside digital credentialing to provide industry-recognised certifications. Academy's cohort management and bulk operations features made it practical to scale across 140+ program cohorts, and its global accessibility meant location was never a barrier for learners.

The challenge was both a content and a logistics problem. AusIMM needed to deliver high-quality, multimedia-rich learning to professionals regardless of where they were located or what time zone they were in, while managing a growing portfolio of courses and cohorts efficiently.
