The opportunity

Woodside Energy were seeking a leadership program to enable their whole-of-organisation transformation. Guroo Learning and AGSM partnered to design and deliver the Navigator program, built to enhance current leadership capabilities and build future capacity across all employees globally.

The program had to work at significant scale, across multiple leadership levels, and integrate directly with Woodside's existing HR infrastructure. It also needed to support a cultural shift toward continuous improvement, agile leadership, and adaptability – all while the organisation was navigating industry disruption, global acquisitions, and a transition toward new energy solutions.

The solution

Academy (branded as Navigator for Woodside) provided the enterprise-grade infrastructure the program required. Five distinct leadership phases were managed within the platform, with complex progression rules and personalised pathways based on role and level. Blended delivery, combining in-person immersions, virtual sessions, and self-paced modules, was coordinated within integrated development journeys.

On the technical side, Academy integrated directly with the SuccessFactors LMS for automatic pathway assignment, employee data synchronisation, single-sign on, and automated account provisioning. This eliminated manual administrative overhead and made consistent delivery across thousands of employees genuinely practical. Credential and points management was handled within the platform, with UNSW credentials issued for credit toward broader award programs.

The outcomes were strong: over 5,000 staff engaged, more than 6,000 credentials awarded, consistent evaluation scores above 4.5 out of 5, and 70% of participants reporting measurable capability uplift. Leaders who completed the program were consistently rated as more effective by their teams.
